LAWTON – A doubles point proved to be the difference for the #14 RiverHawks in a 4-3 win on Sunday afternoon at #22 Cameron.
The win is Northeastern State's first in the young season as they will return home 1-1 after two ranked tests.
Northeastern State handled the Aggies (0-5) on courts one and three in doubles.
Mayra Jovic and
Tatjana Stoll won 6-2 on the main court. While on court-three,
Melissa Vera and
Betka Gombarova edged out Cameron 6-4.
Singles was a split decision with both teams winning on three courts. Jovic continued her winning ways in the regular season and took court-two 6-2, 6-4. The NSU senior is now a perfect 20-0 in the regular season.
Gombarova won 6-4, 6-3 and
Karla Tomaic breezed through a 6-4, 6-0 decision.
Northeastern State will return to action on Friday to host Oklahoma Baptist in their home opener at noon.
