#17 Northeastern State rallies past Oklahoma Baptist, 4-3

BROKEN ARROW – #17 Northeastern State picked up two late singles wins to rally past Oklahoma Baptist, 4-3, on Friday afternoon.

Due to damp weather, the RiverHawks home opener moved to the Indian Springs Country Club, and played indoors.

Leading 2-0, Northeastern State lost on three straight singles courts to give the Lady Bison a shot at an early season upset.   Playing in pro set format, Karla Tomaic edged OBU in a 9-7 tiebreaker to even the match.  Melissa Vera was the clinching point in six-singles, with an 8-2 victory.

All four of NSU's top singles courts were taken to three sets.  Mayra Jovic was the RiverHawks' lone player to come out ahead with a 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 win.

The RiverHawks go to 2-1 for the season while Oklahoma Baptist falls to 1-4.

Northeastern State will be off until March 3 where they will face Henderson State in non-conference play.
