TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State made quick work on the field with two five-inning run-ruled games on Sunday beating Kansas Wesleyan 15-3 and Doane 12-3 in the nightcap.
Between the two games, the RiverHawks belted out 12 extra-base hits to halt a six-game skid, and improves to 7-8 this season.
Northeastern State's bats came alive in their opener and put up runs in all four innings to run-rule the Coyotes. In the opening frame, NSU put up three runs before hanging a crooked seven on the scoreboard in the second inning.
Cameron Conrad highlighted the inning with a bases-clearing triple and
Hannah Ailey hit a solo homer.
In the third,
Jess Schuler blasted a three-run homer to center to put the RiverHawks up 13-2. Northeastern State would plate two more runs the fourth before the game ended.
The RiverHawks would out-hit KWU 11-to-3, Schuler finished the game with five RBI, and Conrad was credit with four RBI.
Alex Azua (1-1) was credited with the win after going three innings.
In the nightcap, Doane plated three runs in the opening frame. Northeastern State in the home half of the inning batted through their order to score four runs.
Following a scoreless inning, NSU dropped the Tigers for an eight spot with six extra-base hits. Schuler highlighted the frame with her second homer of the day to score three runs.
Gail Young spun a complete game and struck out four to move to 5-3 this year. Schuler finished the second game with three RBI and going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Northeastern State returns to action on Monday where they will face Doane at 9 a.m. and then Kansas Wesleyan at 1 p.m.
