EDMOND – Northeastern State could not overcome a cool shooting evening and fell 70-57 to rivals Central Oklahoma on Tuesday evening.
The loss is the sixth consecutive for the RiverHawks who fall to 6-21 (3-15 MIAA) and eliminates them from the MIAA postseason tournament.
All nine players who suited up in Edmond had at least a point for NSU.
Bailee Eldred paced the RiverHawks with 19 points; ten of those came in the final ten minutes of play.
Cenia Hayes had 11 points and
Joi Bertrand had six with five blocks.
Northeastern State lead early in a low scoring 10-7 first quarter that saw UCO miss its first 11 shots from the field.
In the second period, the Bronchos found their way to the basket outscoring NSU 23-to-12. The RiverHawks trailed the rest of the way.
Northeastern State finished the evening shooting 31.5-percent (17-54) and they were 3-for-23 from the arc. Bertrand led the RiverHawks with five rebounds but they were limited to 30 as a team. Central Oklahoma had one player with a double-double and 47 rebounds.
The Bronchos with the win improves to 17-11 and 8-10 in the MIAA.
