TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State snapped a six-game skid and swept Southwest Baptist on a pair of walk-offs on Thursday afternoon.
The RiverHawks who improve to 22-19 overall and 10-6 in the MIAA took the opener 2-1 on an RBI single from
Madison Boyd. In the nightcap, it was single from
Alyssia Crick with two outs in the seventh to break up a scoreless game to win 1-0 over the Bearcats.
In both games, NSU had six hits. Boyd went 2-for-4 in the opener with
Kyla Ibarra crossing home as the winning run.
Gail Young (13-7) tossed a complete game and struck out three batters.
Sydney Balderrama (8-8) spun a two-hitter for the RiverHawks in the nightcap and only allowed one extra-base hit, while not walking any batters.
Kelsey Harmon would be the winning run in the second game after opening the seventh out with a single.
Friday's losses to NSU drop Southwest Baptist to 5-30 (2-8 MIAA).
Northeastern State returns to action on Friday for a doubleheader against Central Missouri starting at noon. The Jennies will come to RiverHawks Park with a 23-15, 9-5 MIAA record and were swept at Central Oklahoma on Thursday.
