CLAREMORE – Northeastern State was limited to three hits and fell 5-1 in their opening game of a doubleheader at Rogers State on Monday afternoon.
Alyssia Crick broke up the no-hit bid in the sixth with two outs for the RiverHawks who fall to 20-18 overall.
Kelsey Harmon scored NSU's lone run in the third and
Alex Azua (1-3) in her first start since March 1 tossed her second complete game of the season on 121 pitches.
Three of RSU's runs came late in the game during the sixth inning.
The Hillcats (28-12) tallied an early run with runners on the corners and one out on a single that snuck through the left side in the second inning. NSU matched Rogers State in the next frame scoring a run without making a hit. Harmon led the inning off with a walk and moved to second on a sac bunt. A passed ball slid Harmon to third and
Cameron Conrad brought her home on a sac fly to tie the game.
After a scoreless inning, a leadoff walk in the fourth came back around to bite the RiverHawks. With two outs, the Hillcats hit a two-out infield single for the go-ahead run.
Rogers State struck a final blow to the RiverHawks with two-outs in the sixth on a base-clearing double to go up 5-1.
Northeastern State batters struck out nine times in the loss.
