CLAREMORE – Rogers State completed a doubleheader sweep besting Northeastern State 6-1 on Monday evening.
The contest is the final scheduled non-conference meeting between the two programs with RSU set to join the MIAA come fall.
Rogers State (29-12) did their damage in the opening three innings. The Hillcats hit a two-run homer in the first and scored one more in the second off an NSU fielding error. In the third, they sent eight up to plate to score three runs off five hits.
Northeastern State was held to two hits with their run coming on a ground out in the second.
Kelsey Harmon had an RBI,
Jess Schuler and
Haley Acrey both reached on a hit.
Anna Hammer (0-1) went two innings in her first career start.
Hannah Boswell came in and tossed four scoreless frames of relief.
The loss is the sixth straight for the RiverHawks who fall to 20-19 overall.
Northeastern State will return home to host Central Missouri this Friday for an MIAA doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
