INDIANAPOLIS – Northeastern State alumni Joe Gilbert is set to be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on June 30 in Indianapolis.

Gilbert is a 1954 graduate of NSU and is a member of the Athletics Department 1992 Hall of Fame Class where he played basketball, baseball, football, and track.

In 65 years of coaching at Barnsdall High School, Gilbert has amassed nearly 4,000 wins in six varsity sports and is a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  The Fieldhouse in Barnsdall bears his name one it and Gilbert still coaches fastpitch and slowpitch softball and girls basketball.  

Last summer, he received the Blue Cross Blue Shield Lifetime Achievement Award during the Tulsa World's 2018 All-World Awards Banquet.
