WICHITA, Kan. ---- Flynn Semmerling provided the only offense the RiverHawks needed in 1-0 victory over Newman University in Great American Conference action at Wilkins Field here Saturday.
Northeastern State picked up its fifth straight victory over the Jets in the first meeting between the schools since 2011. NSU improved to 3-3 and 1-1 in GAC play.
Semmerling, a sophomore from Hamburg, Germany netted his first goal of the year late in the opening half giving the NSU as 1-0 lead at the break.
NSU keeper Justin Hinman picked up his first shutout of the year while facing 10 shots and collected one save on the day.
Northeastern State was held to only four total shots with only two on goal.
The RiverHawks will continue GAC play next week with a pair of home matches against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist.
