TAHLEQUAH – The NSU Women's Soccer team won their home opener on Saturday night, 3-0 over Northwestern Okla. The RiverHawks are now 2-0 on the season.
The RiverHawks wasted no time in striking, as
Mariah Nicolet scored just 29 seconds into the match to put them up 1-0. Nicolet would score her second in the 65
th minute off an assist from
Anslea Haikey to boost the NSU lead to 2-0.
Haikey would score a goal of her own in the 72
nd minute off a penalty kick to put the RiverHawks up 3-0, which would be the final score as Brennen Hockett posted a shutout in net for NSU.
The RiverHawks dominated the match, outshooting the Rangers 16-4, with eight shots on goal.
Sarah Rector recorded three of those shots while
Meagan Chase,
Callie Rucker and
Paulina Chavez each had two shots on the night.
NSU will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they welcome Southern Nazarene to DeLoache Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
