Opening Tip
  • Senior guard Cenia Hayes is 21 points short of 1,000 for her career.
  • The RiverHawks won their conference opener for the second year in a row.
  • Northeastern State is admist a three game homestand to open the season.
  • The RiverHawks are looking to put an end to the Griffons' success in Tahlequah, they have won the last three meetings at the Event Center.
  • Sophomore forwards Zaria Collins and Britney Ho combined for 31 points in the first game of the season. The two averaged together in 2019-20 combined for 10 points.
  • With starting point guard Maegan Lee unable to play for at least the first weekend four Northeastern State players had two assists or more.
  • To open the season the RiverHawks took only seven three-point attempts, making three. It was the fewest attempts under head coach Fala Bullock and bes percentage from beyond the arc since last seasons MIAA season opener.
  • Northeastern State had 13 turnovers while Missouri Western had 19 in its opening contest.
The series with Missouri Western
  • NSU is 3-3 against Missouri Western in Tahlequah.  The Griffons have won the last three meetings on NSU's home floor. 
  • Missouri Western has won the last seven meetings between the two programs.
  • The first meeting in 2005, which resulted in a 58-50 home win for NSU had head coach Fala Bullock on the bench as a graduate assistant. 
  • As head coach at NSU, Bullock is 0-3 against Missouri Western.
About the Griffons
  • Replace their top six scorers (84 percent) from the 2019-2020 team that finished 13-6 in the MIAA.
  • There are 10 new players on the MWSU roster.
  • The Griffons ranked fourth in overall defense in the conference last season holding 58.5 points per game. It also ranked second in rebounding offense with 39.0 per contest.
  • At Rogers State Thursday it scored 83 points with three players in double figures.
  • The Griffons shot over 50.0 percent in the second half of their opening night contest at Rogers State.
  • Freshman starting point guard Camille Evans turned in an 18 point, 10 rebound and six assist effort in Claremore. Fellow freshman Mary Fultz also had 18 points in the game.
Looking back
  • Collins notched a new career-high with 22 points scored against Northwest Missouri to open the season.
  • Hayes recorded her fourth double-double of her career on opening night, Thursday.
  • The RiverHawks had 11 offensive rebounds Thursday night.
