Opening Tip
  • Saturday is the final scheduled home game for NSU for the next two weeks.  They will remain close to home next Saturday, where they will travel to Claremore to face Rogers State.
  • In seven games, NSU has faced five this year who have appeared on the NABC poll.
  • After beating then ranked #21 Missouri Southern on the road, the RiverHawks are trying to halt a six-game skid.
  • The RiverHawks have started the same five in the last three games.  However, for the first time since the 2015-16 season, NSU will not have a player start every game this season.
  • For eight NSU student-athletes, it will be the first time that they will face Newman.   Brad Davis is the NSU leading returner to face the Jets.  The senior scored 17 points in his lone meeting with Newman last season.
  • Due to COVID-19 protocols at Central Oklahoma, NSU did not play on Thursday evening.
  • Saturday's game is one of six men's contests going on around the MIAA.  NSU is the only MIAA Oklahoma team playing on Saturday.
  • The entire NCAA Central Region is back in action.  The Northeastern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Great American Conference did not start play until Jan. 2021.
  • The MIAA Coaches voted the RiverHawks to finish in 13th this season.
NSU individual player notes are on page one of the game notes.

About the Jets
  • Lost on Thursday to Rogers State in Claremore, 73-56, and has lost its last two games by double-digits.
  • The Jets are 0-3 on the road this season, and current has dropped its last seven games in a row away from Wichita.
  • Last win in Oklahoma came Feb. 2, 2019, at Oklahoma Christian.  Newman has lost four meetings in Oklahoma.
  • Newman is second to last in the MIAA in scoring, averaging 67.1 points per game.
  • Led in scoring by Branden Bunn, who averages 13.3 points per game.  Joel Boyce is the Jets' leading rebounder with 7.5 boards per game and is second in scoring with 12.9 points per game.  Boyce has scored at least ten points in the last five games and had a double-double at Rogers State.

Looking Back
  • Northeastern State led as many as 12-points in the second half, but they could not hold off No. 5-ranked Washburn on Saturday, falling in an 85-84 overtime heart breaker.
  • The RiverHawks held the lead for over 36 minutes, but a 17-4 run by Washburn in the final ten minutes of the game was enough to send the game to overtime and the eventual win.
  • Brad Davis was two points short of matching his career-high with 22 points on Saturday; the senior would set a career mark in assists with eight.
  • NSU's 44 rebounds were a season-high, besting their previous high of 38.
