JOPLIN, Mo. --
Hannah Stettler landed her first goal of the season as Northeastern State shutout Missouri Southern 2-0 Sunday for the RiverHawks first MIAA win.
Northeastern State improved to 4-4-2 overall and 1-2 in MIAA play and halted a streak of two straight outings where the offense went scoreless.Â
Stettler broke a scoreless game in the 50th minute on a ball that bounced over the Southern goalkeeper from in front of the box. Â
Callie Rucker iced the game in the 84th minute scoring a deflection from an MSSU defender near their goalkeeper.  The goal is her fourth of the season.
In her first career start,
Melanie Rice had four saves and earned the shoutout.Â
NSU had a 15-to-9 shot advantage, while Southern (2-6-2, 1-2-0 MIAA) had an 11-to-1 advantage on corners.Â
The RiverHawks remain on the road and will head to Washburn this Friday.Â
