SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- Northeastern State closed out their fall on a high note Saturday afternoon with dominating wins over Ouachita Baptist and John Brown.
The RiverHawks (2-0) won doubles and took four singles flights over the Tigers for the 5-2 win. NSU swept all the courts for a 7-0 thumping over hosts John Brown in the afternoon contest.
Against Ouachita Baptist (1-1), the RiverHawks took doubles on one courts two and three for the early point.
In singles, NSU won on the top-three flights and in 5s for the win.
Maria Popova took a 6-2, 6-3 win on the main court, and
Vera Carvalho had a three-set win in 3s.
The RiverHawks did quick work of JBU in doubles allowing only four overall game wins, and all but one singles court had a 6-0 set sweep.
Popova took her sixth overall singles win on the fall in 1s, 6-0, 6-2.
Chiara Carnelutti made her season debut in both singles and doubles. She would take a 6-0, 6-1 win at the six singles spot.
Northeastern State will be off until January, where they are tentatively set to open the spring championship season against the University of Wyoming.
