TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State closes out their men's soccer homestand with an afternoon game with Fort Hays State Thursday and then Newman on Saturday.

After opening conference play 3-0, the RiverHawks (5-5) suffered a setback Sunday on a late goal from Southern Nazarene.

Jason Rivera continues to lead the GAC/MIAA with five goals and is tied for the conference lead with four shutouts this season.

History with the Tigers
Historically, following 25 matches, the series is near even, with the Tigers holding an 11-9 lead, with five draws between the two teams.   At home, NSU is 6-2-3, and due to postseason play and schedule quirks, the RiverHawks have hosted Fort Hays once in the last six meetings.  The home meeting with FHSU resulted in a 4-1 win in-favor of the RiverHawks.

Scouting the Tigers (5-3-1, 2-1-0 GAC/MIAA)
- Fort Hays State slipped out of the top-25 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll but is receving votes.
- The Tigers lead the GAC/MIAA with 18 goals, with seven of those coming on a 7-1 thumping of Ouachita Baptist last weekend.
- Finished the weekend with a 2-1 home loss to Harding.
- Blake Arndt is tied for the conference lead in goals, with Rivera at five.

History with the Jets (0-7-1, 0-2-1 MIAA)
Northeastern State holds a 14-10-2 series lead over Newman, with the first meeting coming in 1985.  The RiverHawks have won six of the last seven meetings. However, the previous five have been single-goal decisions.   In the spring 2021 contest, NSU beat Newman 3-2 in overtime, with that contest happening at Doc Wadley Stadium.

Scouting the Jets (1-5-2, 0-1-0 MIAA)
- Due to COVID-19 protocols, Newman had to postpone matches and take a two-week break at the end of September.
- Heading into play this week, the Jets have not won in their last 12 contests dating back to the spring 2021 season.
- The Jets will face Southern Nazarene before visiting NSU Saturday.

Coming Up
Northeastern State will not have a weekday contest and will return to the pitch Saturday visiting Southern Nazarene.
