Northeastern State drops opener to Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Northeastern State's season got off to a sour note on Saturday, with #RV Drury handing them a 7-0 defeat on Saturday.

The match is the first competition for RiverHawks in 11 months and a late addition to the season schedule

In doubles, the Drury took the over doubles point after winning 6-1 on both of the top two courts.

On court three, the RiverHawks' pairing of Belinda Jayaprakash and
Irene Romero were up 6-5 on Drury but fell 7-6 in a tiebreaker.

The Panthers took all six points in two sets during singles play.  Jayaprakash has the best outing of the group going 7-6(9), 7-5 in her match on court five.

Drury improves to 1-1 with the win as they have won four of the last five meetings with the RiverHawks.   Northeastern State (0-1) does maintain a 16-5 series lead over the Panthers.

NSU will have an extended break due to the weather and won't be in action until Feb. 26 where they will host an indoor match in Tulsa against Southeastern Oklahoma.
