Softball scores five in the first to beat East Central, 8-2

EDMOND -- Northeastern State struck early and blasted 14 hits to an 8-2 win Monday evening over East Central to close the Edmond Regional Softball Festival. 
 
The RiverHawks scored five runs in the first inning before an out recorded by ECU's starter. 
Four NSU batters had two-hits with each player in the starting lineup recording a base knock. 
 
Chloe Bohuslavicky smoked a home run to center field for three early runs and Addy Wolfe hammered a double to left center to tack on two insurance runs. All told, NSU had six extra-base hits.
 
Gail Young threw her third complete game of the season striking out six and allowed just one earned run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rhomie Bradshaw led off the game with an infield single and scored from first on two-hole hitter Addie Elbon's triple to left center. Cameron Conrad got hit by a pitch before freshman Chloe Bohuslavicky hit her second home run of the day this time to centerfield. The RiverHawks ran the Tigers starter from the game before she could record an out. Carly Kelley then smoked a double to center field and scored on a two-out Alyssia Crick double to left. In the bottom half, Gail Young came out with the heat striking out the side.
 
Bradshaw and Elbon walked to open the second before Conrad got hit by yet another pitch to force in the third Tigers pitcher of the day with the bases juiced. Kelly stood in the box and took one for the team, she was credited with an RBI on the hit by pitch.
 
In the bottom half, East Central got a run back on an NSU throwing error. 
 
The Tigers doubled twice in the bottom of the fourth to bring the score to 6-2.
 
Northeastern State tacked on two more in the sixth with some two-out offense. Addy Wolfe drove in Bohuslavicky and Kelley who had singled with a double to left center.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
  • Bohuslavicky hit her second home run of the day in the first inning, a three-run shot.
  • Bradshaw moved from first base to left field and pushed her hit streak to six games.
  • Every player in the starting lineup had a hit and pinch hitter Sheridan Kent got a base knock in her first career at-bat.
  • Conrad continued her reached base streak, it now stands at 22.

Northeastern State hosts the Cherokee Nation Festival this coming weekend on Friday and Saturday.
