Bradshaw's bat drives NSU to 6-4 win

TAHLEQUAH – Rhomie Bradshaw was 3-3 from the leadoff spot in the order and her three-run shot in the second inning gave NSU the jolt it needed in a 6-4 win.

The game saw just two extra-base hits for either side. Both of which accounted for runs for the RiverHawks.

Northeastern State put pressure on the Griffons starter from the first pitch. Bradshaw led off the bottom of the first with a single to shortstop. Addie Elbon was promptly hit by a pitch to put two on for Cameron Conrad who executed a sacrifice bunt. Chloe Bohuslavicky singled on a pop up that fell in shallow center to score the first run of the game.

The Griffons loaded the bases in the second inning and scored two on a two-out single to right field.

NSU got two singles to lead off the bottom of the frame from Carly Kelley and Cat Rodman. With one-out Bradshaw stepped to the plate and hit a high fly ball that cleared the center field fence to put the RiverHawks back in front.

Missouri Western got one back the next inning on two singles and a walk. Bradshaw cut off the throw to the plate to nag the runner trying to advance to third base to end the frame.

In the fifth, the Griffons tied the game at four apiece on two singles and a sharp grounder to third that was ruled an error.

Bradshaw led off the bottom of the frame with a single before stealing her 12th bag of the season and scored on a Conrad double into the left field corner. Addy Wolfe singled up the middle to bring the RiverHawks lead to the eventual 6-4.

Gail Young spun her 12th complete game of the season and struck out five.

Northeastern State moves to 16-9 (4-3 in MIAA) while it's the first conference loss for Missouri Western that boast a 15-6 (4-1 in MIAA) record.
