RiverHawks sweep John Brown, 7-0

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Northeastern State made quick work of John Brown Monday with a 7-0 win in a women's tennis match that lasted under two hours.

The RiverHawks cleaned up, sweeping all its doubles courts and seven sets in singles.  JBU would win only eight games on Northeastern State overall.

"We jumped out early," said head Tim McLane. "We stayed on task; we took care of things the way we should have. I was happy with our energy."

"We moved really well regardless of the balls we were hitting, and we had good aggressive footwork. That's the biggest thing in doubles, your court positioning, your movement, those are the things that we can control, and I thought we did a really good job because it was a little bit windy."

With the doubles point in hand, Chiara Carnelutti (3), Belinda Jayaprakash (4), and Sofia Lundgren (6) each won both sets 6-0 to give NSU the match-clinching fourth point.

Irene Romero won (6-2, 6-0) on the No. 5 court, while the top two flights of Melissa Vera and Maria Popova each won (6-2, 6-1).

Northeastern State improves to 2-2 with the win.

Weather depending, the RiverHawks will welcome the JBU for a return trip Saturday at 1 p.m.
