PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Pittsburg State hit a two-out grand slam in the fifth to rally past the RiverHawks 7-4 Saturday in the first of two games.
Alyssia Crick hit her 11th homer of the season in the second, and
Cameron Conrad left the yard in the fourth for NSU, who falls to 19-13-1 overall and 7-7-1 in the MIAA.
Addie Elbon had a three-hit game at the plate, and
Addy Wolfe scored a run on a two-out single in the third.
After recording the first two outs in the fifth, Pitt State reached on a hit-by-pitch, single, and walk to load the bases. The Gorillas would tie the game on a grand slam hit with two outs.
NSU would go down in order in the sixth before the Gorillas scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single and two more for insurance.
The RiverHawks would out-hit the Gorillas 9-to-6 as they improve to 13-20 and 7-8 in the MIAA.
Gail Young (13-6) went 5 1/3 innings in her 18th start of the season.
