WICHITA, Kan. -- The bottom half of the RiverHawks' singles lineup paved the way for a 4-3 road win Saturday at Newman.
Vera Carvalho was the match clincher in the 4-singles flight, 6-3, 6-3, as Northeastern State improved to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA.
The RiverHawks picked up a 6-2 win on its top doubles flight and a 6-3 victory in threes for the double point and early lead over the Jets.
In singles,
Sofia Lundgren swept her counterpart in straight sets for her second win of the season for the team's second point.
Belinda Jayaprakash won 7-5 and 6-0 in 5s to pave the way to Carvalho to clinch the match.
Newman falls to 6-5, 0-3 MIAA with the loss to the RiverHawks.
Northeastern State will travel next to Emporia State Sunday for its final MIAA road contest.
