Heimbach gives NSU second-straight overtime win

JOPLIN, Mo. – Myka Heimbach tallied twice in Northeastern State's second-straight overtime victory. The sophomore put a shot to the bottom of the net in the 94th minute to give NSU a 3-2 triumph over Missouri Southern Friday evening.

It was the RiverHawks' third-straight win and second on the road.
 
NSU had five shots on-goal in the first half but neither team found the back of the net.
 
Paulina Chavez broke the scoreless tie in the 53rd minute on a pass by Callie Rucker.
 
After the Lions knotted the contest in the 66th minute, Heimbach put one through to the bottom left of the net three minutes later.
 
Missouri Southern knotted the score back up, this time 2-2, in the 83rd minute.

The RiverHawks had two shots on-goal in the overtime period and Heimbach put the shot through the middle of the net for the golden goal.
 
Four different RiverHawks had two shots on-goal each. The teams combined for 37 shots in the contest including 18 towards the net.
 
NSU moves to 3-2 (3-1 in MIAA southeast division) while Missouri Southern falls to 4-7 (1-3 in MIAA).
 
Northeastern State will close the six-match regular season with Central Oklahoma at Doc Wadley Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m.
