TAHLEQUAH --
Addie Elbon was a triple short of the cycle and had four RBI as the RiverHawks downed #24 Rogers State 5-1 to split an MIAA doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
The RiverHawks rebounded from a four-hit game in the opener and bashed 11, knocking out Rogers State's starter in the third inning.
Elbon gave the RiverHawks an early 2-0 lead with her fifth homer of the season in the opening inning. After a
Rhomie Bradshaw RBI single, Elbon continued to help the NSU cause with a two-RBI single to right field to give them a 5-0 lead.
The Hillcats (23-12-1, 11-7 MIAA) hit a solo homer in the third before the RiverHawks missed an opportunity to further their lead by leaving the bases loaded.
Neither team would plate a run the rest of the way, with Bradshaw,
Alyssia Crick, and
Carly Kelley all having a two-hit game.
Jenna Chassie (5-5) allowed only one earned run and struck out three RSU batters in the win.
Northeastern State improves to 21-14-1 and 9-8-1 in the MIAA. They will be on the road this upcoming week to visit Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney.
