HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State scored four runs in the opening inning and never looked back to beat the RiverHawks 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
Northeastern State matched Fort Hays State on the hit column with nine with three batters having a multi-hit game.

In the third, NSU drew a pair of walks, and a double from
Addy Wolfe loaded the bases with two outs. However, they would leave the inning empty-handed.
Fort Hays (21-18, 14-7 MIAA) extended their lead in the fifth, scoring a run on a two-out single.
Addie Elbon scored two runs on a two-out single in the next frame to get NSU within two of the Tigers.
Gail Young (13-9) struck out five batters as the RiverHawks will fall to 21-17-1 overall and 9-11-1 in the MIAA.
