TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State finished its regular season on a sour note with Missouri Western sweeping the shorthanded squad on Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks were without their two and three singles players due to injury, forcing them to play with a shifted lineup and different doubles teams.
In doubles, the Griffons (11-5. 5-3) clinched the overall point, but
Vera Carvalho and
Sofia Lundgren were ahead 5-4 in 2s. MWSU would rally with three straight game wins to sweep all three courts.
Northeastern State (8-8, 4-4 MIAA) came out steady early in singles, but they would see two flights swept in the second set with no court winning more than three games.
The two teams will meet again in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament on Friday, April 30, in Edmond.
