Gail Young limited Washburn to five hits as the RiverHawks downed the Ichabods 4-1 Friday in the first game of a doubleheader.
The win moved Young to 59 in her career and is now one-off from matching the program record.
Northeastern State improved to 22-18-1 overall and 10-12-1 in the MIAA.
Cat Rodman had two of NSU's five hits and an RBI.
Alyssia Crick hit her fifth double of the season and had two RBI in the win.
A lead-off walk and a passed ball allowed NSU to score on a
Carly Kelley sac fly, bringing
Addy Wolfe in from third.
The RiverHawks added to their lead in the fourth, with Crick scoring two on a double to right-center. Rodman later gave NSU a 4-0 lead with an RBI single down the left-field line.
Washburn (25-13, 11-10 MIAA) would load the bases in the fifth with one out but could only plate a run on a fielder's choice ground ball to second base.
Young would strike out seven Washburn batters on 135 pitches.
