TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Heidi Messer will be on the coaching staff of the USA D2 Women's Basketball Team as they tour Brazil later this month.  

The team will be made up of ten student-athletes from the Central Region, with four of those coming from the MIAA.  Messer, who enters her fifth season at NSU, will coach the team alongside Central Okla. assistant coach Heather Davis.

"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this Brazil tour and represent the USA and NSU," said Messer.  "I have always loved international travel and new cultures, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to combine that with my passion for basketball and celebrate this game globally."

The USA Women's Team will play its first two games in Sao Paulo and then conclude the tour with team games in Rio de Janeiro.
