RiverHawks open conference play with a 2-0 win over Harding

TAHLEQUAH -- Jason Rivera kicked in his fourth goal of the season for the RiverHawks (3-4, 1-0 GAC/MIAA) as they opened conference play with a 2-0 win Thursday evening over Harding.

Rivera launched a shot from 25 yards out that sailed over the Bison goalkeeper.  Scott Woods was credited with his first assist of the season on the goal in the 25th minute. 

The contest wouldn't be iced until Flynn Semmerling scored his third goal of the year off a free kick in the 60th minute. 

Niklas Kirhoff earned the shutout out for NSU and stopped four shots. 

The RiverHawks held a 13-9 shot advantage over Harding (0-3, 0-1 GAC/MIAA) and a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Northeastern State remains at home to host Ouachita Baptist Saturday at 1 p.m.
