TAHLEQUAH – No. 22 Northeastern State scored three goals in the first half and shut out Ouachita Baptist 3-nil Thursday evening.
The RiverHawks dominated the ball, landing 24 shots to the Tigers' two, neither of which were on-goal.
Giani Mascarel had his third goal of the year in the 12th minute off a free kick from
Davi Dornelles.
Martin Martinez earned his first career goal in the 37th minute on a pass from
Miguel Torres.
Scott Woods kept the scoring going two minutes later on a pass from
Jack Barrier.
Ouachita Baptist suffered its second consecutive shutout as they fell to 1-9-2 (1-5-0 GAC/MIAA). Northeastern State improves to 6-2-2 (4-1-1 GAC/MIAA) with its tenth straight win over the Tigers.
Thursday evening is the first time since Sept. 2, 2021, that NSU's defense limited a foe to zero shots-on-goal.
Northeastern State remains at home and will host Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. Saturday.
