RiverHawks take doubleheader over SNU

BETHANY -- Northeastern State used a pair of late-inning rallies to take both games of a doubleheader against Southern Nazarene at Feland Field here Friday.  The RiverHawks improved to 3-2 on the year, while the Crimson Storm dropped to 1-5.

The RiverHawks turned a 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 lead after a pair of two-RBI doubles from C.D. White, and Kademon Graff led to five runs in the fifth inning, securing the game one victory of the four-game series.

NSU Starter Seth Key (2-0) picked up his second victory of the young season lasting five innings with four strikeouts, and gave up just one earned run. Jake Bigham capped off the win with a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his second save of the year.

Northeastern State collected nine hits, led by Graff, who was 3-4 at the plate with two RBI; White was 2-4 with two RBI, and Blake Freeman was 2-3.

The RiverHawks plated four runs in the final inning to break a 1-1 tie to capture the 5-1 victory in the nightcap.

White (3-4) and Freeman (4-4) continued to shred the SNU pitching combining for seven hits.

Junior right-hander Jon Moll picked his first season victory with a strong performance on the mound going six innings while striking out six and allowing only two hits.

The RiverHawks will look to sweep the series on Saturday, where the two teams will play another doubleheader.  Game one is slated to start at 1:00 pm.
