RiverHawks homer five times in win over Bearcats

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State rallied from a six-run first inning deficit to score 16 unanswered runs in a 16-6 victory over McKendree at Thomas C. Rousey Field here Friday afternoon.

The RiverHawks move its winning streak to six games and improve to 7-2 on the year.

NSU starter Seth Key (3-0) was tagged for six runs and six hits in the opening frame but held the Bearcats to just three hits and fanned six over the next five innings to pick up the victory.

The big inning was again the friend of the RiverHawks, trailing 6-1 after the first inning.  NSU would plate 16 unanswered runs to cruise to the victory.

The RiverHawks blasted five home runs on the day.  Brock Reller hit his team-high fourth home run of the year on a moon shot over the center-field fence; the graduate student also hit his third triple of the season.  C.D. White was 2-4 at the plate with a home run, triple, and four RBI.

Brayden Rodden, Blake Freeman, and Tucker Dunlap each hit their first home runs of the year.

The two teams will return to Rousey Field on Saturday for a pair of seven-inning games.  First Pitch is set for noon.
