TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State continued to swing a hot stick and beat Emporia State 8-4 Monday to complete the sweep of the Hornets.
Collin Klingensmith hit his second homer of the series in the fifth inning.
Blaze Brothers hit an inside-the-park home run on a ball that hit the base of the center field wall, and
C.D. White had a three-hit game with a home run in the second inning.
The sweep of the Hornets is the second consecutive and first at Emporia State for the NSU Baseball program, who moved to 12-3 to start the year and are 3-0 in MIAA play.
Northeastern State never trailed in the series and out-hit the Hornets 38-to-21.
Davin Pollard started the game for NSU with 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Korrdell Jiles picked up the win in relief, and
Cohen Bell tossed a three-inning save.
All but one of NSU's batters reached base Monday;
Blake Freeman went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen bag.
Emporia State drops to 5-9 (0-3 MIAA) with the loss.
The RiverHawks have a short turnaround and will host Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday at 2 p.m.
