ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Northeastern State posed a late seventh inning rally, but they would suffer a 5-2 loss Sunday evening to Oklahoma Baptist.
The RiverHawks will leave it's opening weekend 3-1, and they were limited to four hits against the Bison (3-1).
Most of the damage was done in the third inning, and a one-out error allowed for four runs to cross home plate.
An error in the sixth put an extra runner on-base for the Bison to go up 5-1 on the RiverHawks on a single to left field.
Northeastern State managed to load the bases with one out in the seventh.
Jaeden Rosenquist drew a bases-loaded walk to plate a run and get the potential winning run at home plate. However, NSU would strike out and hit into a fielder's choice to end the game.
Raegan Edwards hit a solo homer in the second, and
Addy Wolfe had two hits.
Savannah Evans (0-1) made her first start and struck out three batters; only one of the four runs given up would be earned.
The RiverHawks will return to action in Bentonville for another crossover tournament on Friday.
