TAHLEQUAH – The sun literally set on the Golden Suns as Northeastern State won a 4-3 thriller at dusk on Wednesday evening.

Emilia Cosatto rallied from being down in a her third set to win in a tiebreaker, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (4) for the overall match win.
"To have your freshman be here for about a month, close it out 7-6 in the third, a couple of seniors grind it out on courts five and six in third sets for us when we really needed them. I couldn't be much happier," said head coach
Tim McLane.
"They (Arkansas Tech) have some girls who can play; that was a big win for us to start off things at home."
Vera Carvalho gave the RiverHawks its first point in single, 6-2, 7-5 on court-2.
Arkansas Tech (0-1) would push NSU to 3-1 overall before
Chiara Carnelutti won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on court-5. About 15 minutes later,
Melissa Vera evened the match at 3-3 with a 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4 on court-6.
Cosatto would need to finish the contest tiebreaker under darkness with both coaches agreeing to play on.
Northeastern State improves to 3-0 overall with the win; they will return to action in Dallas to face Harding on a neutral site.
