TAHLEQUAH –
Seth Key tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out eight Washburn batters en route to a 4-0 shutout win for the RiverHawks Saturday afternoon.
Key allowed just four hits and never walked a batter while using just 88 pitches to move to 5-1 on the hill this season.
The RiverHawks snapped an eight-game winning streak for Washburn, who has won 13 of their last 14 contests to improve their record to 14-6 (4-3 MIAA)
Collin Klingensmith hit a pair of doubles and scored
Blake Freeman in the second inning. In the fourth, the RiverHawks cleared the bases first, plating one on a
C.D. White grounder, and Freeman hit a single to right, sending two runners home.
Cohen Bell and
Jake Bigham tossed a scoreless frame, with the shutout being the third this season for the RiverHawks.
Washburn falls to 15-5 (6-1 MIAA) with the loss. The pair will meet again on Sunday for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
