WARRENSBURG, Mo. —
Matt Kaiser homered, but the RiverHawks' offense was limited Saturday as Central Missouri handed them an 11-2 loss to complete the three-game series sweep.
NSU slips to 13-6 (3-3 MIAA), with the sweep being the first against the RiverHawks since 2019.
An infield error gave the Mules a pair of runs in the first, and the RiverHawks missed an opportunity in the second with two runners in scoring position and no outs to plate anything.
In the third, Kaiser didn't miss on a 3-1 count, hitting his sixth homer of the season to left, cutting the UCM advantage in half. Central Missouri grabbed the momentum back in the bottom half of the inning to score on a bases loaded walk and an infield single.
UCM (11-3, 6-0 MIAA) continued to extend their lead, scoring a run in the fourth and fifth. In the seventh, they added two more, extending their lead to 8-1.
Northeastern State would just plate one more run off a
Brayden Rodden sac fly in the eighth. The Mules would plate three in the bottom half of the frame.
The RiverHawks had six hits, with
Blaze Brothers having two. Northeastern State batters would strike out 11 times.
Davin Pollard (0-1) went three innings and was charged with the loss.
The RiverHawks return home to host Washburn for a three-game MIAA series this upcoming week.
