SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Four runs in the opening frame was all scoring needed for Northeastern State to beat Evangel 4-1 Saturday evening. The win handed NSU its third consecutive split after they were shutout 3-0 by hosts Drury in the opening game.
Rhomie Bradshaw had two of NSU's three hits against Drury. The Panthers scored in the home half of the first on a passed ball and added two more in the second.
Despite being limited in the hit column, the RiverHawks left 12 runs on-base.
Savannah Evans (2-6) went six innings and struck out two batters.
In the nightcap, all of NSU's scoring came off of two hits in the first.
Carly Kelley and
Jaeden Rosenquist hit back-to-back two RBI singles.
Opportunities to extend the lead were limited with NSU having only two runners on base the rest of the way.
Evangel scored their lone run in the sixth off a double.
Gail Young (5-2) struck out four batters, allowing one run, and six hits.
The RiverHawks are 12-9 on the season and open MIAA play this upcoming Saturday at Rogers State.
