TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State snapped a five-match skid Friday and closed its home slate with a 6-1 victory over Fort Hays State.
Friday's win gave NSU its first MIAA win as they improved to 5-12 overall and 1-5 in Association play.
Vera Carvalho and
Alisha Moldakhmetova needed a tiebreaker (7-6, 7-2) on court one in doubles to give the RiverHawks an early doubles point.
The RiverHawks took further control in singles earning wins from Carvalho and
Belinda Jayaprakash. Fort Hays State (6-10, 0-6 MIAA) would win its lone point on the main court before
Melissa Vera took a 6-4, 6-3 decision on court four.
NSU closes out its regular season on the road at Washburn and Northwest Missouri on April 23-24.
