TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State suffered its second consecutive home setback Saturday with a 5-2 loss to Newman.
The RiverHawks had an opportunity for the doubles points, but its court three pairing surrendered a 5-4 lead by dropping the following three games. NSU was up 5-4 on the main doubles court when play was abandoned.
Newman would take all but the top two singles courts for their first win in Tahlequah.
Alisha Moldakhmetova claimed a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win in the top singles slot, and
Vera Carvalho took twos 6-1, 2-6, 10-6.
With the loss, Northeastern State drops to 4-9 (0-3 MIAA); they will head to Durant Thursday to face Southeastern Oklahoma in their final non-conference match.
