Late Goals Force Draw Between RiverHawks and Bulldogs

TAHLEQUAH – Southwestern Oklahoma took advantage of a shorthanded RiverHawks squad and found an equalizer with 64 seconds left on the clock to force a 2-2 draw Saturday night.

Northeastern State played the final 13 minutes of the contest with a woman down following a second yellow card on a RiverHawks player.

The Bulldogs' goals came with under five minutes remaining, with their first coming in the 86th minute. The equalizer came from a laser shot from 25 yards out that came in on the wide left of the goal.

The RiverHawks held the momentum for most of the match after scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes. Payton Lieb scored in the ninth minute, and Hannah Stettler found the back of the net off a SWOSU block. The goals are the first of the season for the pair.

Northeastern State had a 12-to-7 shot advantage over Southwestern, with nine on-goal

Kamari Jefferson was the lone NSU field player to go the full-time. Rebecca Partyka had four saves in their NSU debut.

The Bulldogs move to 0-1-1 overall as the RiverHawks are now 1-0-1 on the year.

Northeastern State remains at home and will host Southwest Baptist on Thursday at 7 p.m.
