SEARCY, Ark. – No. 16 ranked Northeastern State launched a season-high 21 shots and handed Harding a 4-0 shutout loss to open GAC/MIAA play Thursday evening.
The shutout is the second consecutive for the RiverHawks and improves to 3-1-1 overall (1-0 GAC/MIAA)
Flynn Semmerling hit another career milestone in the 24th minute and netted his 37th goal to move the fifth-year senior to a third place tie in the program record books. His goal turned out to be the 13th match winner for Semmering and the fourth goal of the season.
Donovan Aparicio was credited with the assist.
The rest of the RiverHawks' scoring took place in the second half, with
Ryan McCully getting a pass from
Jack Barrier in the 52nd minute to put them up by two.
Northeastern State iced the match with two goals inside of two minutes, with
Luke Allport getting a goal in the 67th minute, and
Nick Garcia followed his lead with the night's fourth goal 90 seconds later.
Martin Martinez and
Luan Lamas had assists in the final two goals of the night.
Niklas Kirhoff earned the shutout and had three saves.
Northeastern State limited Harding to six shots Thursday and remains winless at 0-6 (0-1 GAC/MIAA) and falling to the RiverHawks for the fifth consecutive time.
The RiverHawks will look for a weekend sweep Saturday afternoon, where they will face Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m.
