SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — No. 25 ranked Maryville outshot Northeastern State 22-to-6, but a goal in each half handed the RiverHawks a 2-nil triumph over the Saints Sunday. 

Ryan McCully earned his second career game-winner with a goal in the 27th minute.   Flynn Semmerling netted his third of the season to ice the match in the 71st minute.  The goal is the 36th for the fifth-year senior.

Niklas Kirhoff matched his career high with seven saves and recorded his sixth career shutout. 

The Saints opened the season ranked No. 25 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and had 13 corner kicks to the RiverHawks' three.  Maryville dropped to 1-3 on the year with the loss.

Northeastern State improves to 2-1-1 with the win and will open Great American Conference play Thursday, Sept. 15 at Harding.
