NSU Offense Silenced in 2-0 Loss to Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – Northeastern State was limited to just three shots across 90 minutes of action, while two first-half goals allowed Washburn to take a 2-0 result Sunday afternoon.

The Ichabods were on the attack early, scoring in the ninth minute of play. They held a 1-nil lead for most of the first half before securing a multi-goal advantage before the break with a 38th-minute conversion.

While the NSU defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way, the RiverHawks struggled offensively, logging just one shot in the second half. Whitney Gentry accounted for the team's lone shot on-goal in the seventh minute.

The loss is NSU's second consecutive, taking them to 2-4-4 (0-2-1 MIAA). Meanwhile, the Ichabods advanced to 9-1-0 (3-0-0 MIAA), keeping their undefeated home record on the season intact.

NSU breaks into the second half of their four-match road trip next week, facing Missouri Southern on Friday, Oct. 6 in Joplin, Mo. at 6 p.m. in continued MIAA action.
