TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State was held without a goal across 90 minutes as the RiverHawks were dealt a 2-0 setback against Fort Hays State Friday night.
For most of the night, NSU held strong on the defensive side, taking a goalless tie with FHSU to the half and holding the Tigers scoreless for an additional 23 minutes before a 69th-minute goal gave the opposition the advantage. The RiverHawks struggled to counter, while another make coming in the 83rd minute made it a 2-0 lead for the Tigers, a score that held the rest of the way.
Six of NSU's seven first-half shots were on-target, but the FHSU defense held the RiverHawks without a single try in the second half.

Josie Jarvis both registered on-goal attempts in the loss.
The loss places the RiverHawks at 3-6-1 (1-5-1 MIAA), while the Tigers advanced to 9-1-3 (5-0-1 MIAA), keeping their unbeaten mark in conference action intact.
Northeastern State returns to DeLoache Field on Sunday, Oct. 15 to face Nebraska-Kearney at 1 p.m. in continued MIAA action.
