WICHITA, Kan. –
Luis Felipe Karam scored his second goal of the season in a 1-0 victory for Northeastern State over Newman Thursday night.
Openings weren't plentiful against the Jets' defense, as the RiverHawks were held to just four shots across the contest. It took over 40 minutes for NSU to log an attempt, but Felipe Karam connected on NSU's first effort of the night against the Newman defense in the 41st minute to notch a 1-0 advantage that would hold throughout the rest of the match.
NSU secured their fifth shutout of the season after goalkeeper
Ian Milla got in front of all four on-goal attempts from the Jets offense.
The win is NSU's sixth consecutive against the Jets, and brings their record to 4-3-2 (2-2-0 GAC/MIAA) on the season. Newman fell to 2-5-3 (1-3-1 GAC/MIAA) with the loss.
The RiverHawks return to DeLoache Field on Saturday, Oct 7, to face Fort Hays State at 1 p.m. in continued GAC/MIAA action.
