TOPEKA, Kan. – Three NSU players reached double-figures as Northeastern State was dealt an 84-48 defeat against Washburn inside Lee Arena Tuesday night.
The RiverHawks (4-6, 0-5 MIAA) fell behind early thanks to a 7-0 scoring run to start from the Ichabods (7-4, 3-2 MIAA) over the first 3:04. NSU took a 10-8 scoring edge over the next 2:11 to take the WU lead to five, but it never got fewer than that over the rest of the half, as the Ichabods more than doubled up the visiting side's offensive production the rest of the stanza (28-13).
The struggles continued for the RiverHawks on both sides in the second half, as they were held to 9-of-30 (30.0%) shooting over the last 20 minutes while the Ichabods logged eight more makes in as many attempts (17-of-30, 56.7%).
Ethan Blackmon led the team in scoring with 14 points and tied with
Seth Pratt for the team's rebounding lead with six boards. Pratt and
Trey Quartlebaum scored 11 in the loss.
Northeastern State returns to Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse with their non-conference finale against Ecclesia on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
