RiverHawks fall 75-56 at Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – Northeastern State came out of the locker room with a flat second half and dropped a 75-56 result at Washburn on Tuesday afternoon.  The RiverHawks will enter the holiday break with setbacks in their last three contests, two of which they were tied at the half and one where they led late.

Courtney Lee led the RiverHawks with 14 points and six rebounds.  The junior was limited to 25 minutes after hitting three fouls in the first half.  Halie Jones hit double figures for the ninth time this season with ten points.  Brennan Kirchhoff and Tess Talo Tomokino both had eight points.

Northeastern State led as many as eight points in the first quarter but saw their lead dwindle in the second stanza to a 34-34 draw by the half.  Things became unbuckled quickly for NSU after the intermission and a 3-for-14 shooting third quarter allowed the Ichabods to pull away by double-digits for their fifth consecutive home win over the RiverHawks.

Washburn moved to 4-0 at home and 7-3 overall (2-2 MIAA) with three players in double-digit scoring. Yiibari Nwidadah led all players on the floor with 19 points.

Northeastern State falls to 4-6 (1-4 MIAA) and will return to action on December 30 where they will host Ecclesia at 1:30 p.m. inside Jack Dobbins Field House.
