Lee Callison went seven strong innings and struck out seven East Central batters as Northeastern State's bats took care of business Saturday, winning 9-1.
Callison threw 109 pitches and caught four batters looking, allowing just one run, a homer in the sixth inning.
Matt Kaiser hit a homer in the first and had a three RBI game as the RiverHawks' bats belted out 15 hits on ECU pitching.
Blake Freeman swiped a pair of bags and had four hits from the lead-off possession, and
Brayden Rodden had three hits.
Every NSU batter reached base as Northeastern State never trailed the Tigers.
Following the solo homer by ECU in the sixth, the RiverHawks scored five unanswered runs. In the seventh, a base-loaded infield error allowed two runs to come home, and
DeClaudio Irvin hit an RBI single to cap the three-run frame.
Javier Sanchez tossed two innings of scoreless relief and stuck out one batter.
East Central left three on base as they dropped to 2-3 overall.
The RiverHawks improve to 2-3 on the year and will look for the series win Sunday at 1 p.m. in Pryor.
