Baseball Hammers William Jewell, 10-0

TAHLEQUAH – Isaiah Keller hit a grand slam and had a five-RBI game as Northeastern State took care of William Jewell 10-0 in eight innings Friday afternoon.

The victory opened up the 2023 home slate for the RiverHawks and is the sixth consecutive win at Thomas C. Rousey Field.

Local Tahlequah product Seth Stacey (1-1) earned his first win by pitching a complete game shutout, limiting William Jewell to five hits.  Stacey fanned three batters and threw 122 pitches, 80 of which were strikes.

Northeastern State had eight walks and 12 hits on William Jewell's pitching staff.  Ty Van Meter and DeClaudio Irvin both had three base knocks.

Blake Freeman homered to start the eighth as NSU would plate two more, with the game-winner coming on a single from Irvin that went into left field.

The Cardinals (0-1) had runners in scoring possession just twice and left eight runners on.

Northeastern State moves to 4-4 on the year and will look for the series win Saturday at 2 p.m.
