YUKON, Okla. –
Allison Zanca hit a grand slam in the opening frame as Northeastern State won its sixth consecutive game, beating Southwestern Oklahoma 10-8 on Saturday night.
Zanca had a six RBI game as the RiverHawks scored eight unanswered runs on the Bulldogs in the opening two frames.
Chloe Bohuslavicky continued to swing a red-hot bat homering for the second consecutive game and her seventh of the season in just ten games played. The junior is already past halfway to her own single-season home run mark of 13 and had homered in five of the last six games.
The RiverHawks ran up the score to 10-2, pushing Southwestern to the brink of being run-ruled in the fifth before they plated three runs to extend the game. Southwestern (3-8) added three more in their final at-bats in the seventh.
Lizzy Hall (2-0) earned the win, and
Madison Heinle took credit for her third save of the season, tossing the final three innings.
Northeastern State returns to the field Sunday morning to face Southeastern Oklahoma on the campus of Central Oklahoma.
